Bitget’s User Base Skyrockets, with Africa Leading the Charge
Global cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has announced a remarkable surge in its user base, now boasting over 45 million users worldwide as it marks its sixth year of operation.
The platform revealed on Monday that its user count has nearly tripled since last year, with Africa emerging as the frontrunner in this explosive growth.
The continent has witnessed an astounding 1,614% increase in Bitget users, significantly outpacing other high-growth regions such as South Asia (729%) and Southeast Asia (216%). This surge underscores Africa’s rapidly expanding interest in Web3 technologies and cryptocurrencies.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen attributed the platform’s success in Africa to three key factors:
1. Robust Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Marketplace: “Our P2P market allows for secure crypto-fiat exchanges, crucial in regions where traditional banking services are limited,” Chen explained. This feature has become a lifeline for many Africans seeking financial freedom.
2. Memecoin Mania: The rising popularity of memecoins has played a significant role in attracting African users to Bitget. Chen noted, “We’ve provided a supportive platform for Africans to explore opportunities in the memecoin sector.”
3. The Open Network (TON) Ecosystem: Leveraging the widespread use of Telegram in Africa, Bitget has positioned itself as a “TON-friendly” platform. “Telegram has become a gateway into crypto for millions of Africans,” Chen stated.
While celebrating this growth, Chen acknowledged the challenges of rapid expansion, particularly in maintaining robust technical infrastructure and security. However, she expressed confidence in Bitget’s 1,500-strong workforce to meet these challenges head-on.
This unprecedented growth in Africa not only highlights the continent’s enthusiasm for cryptocurrency but also positions it as a key player in the global crypto landscape.
As Bitget continues to expand its presence in Kenya and across Africa, it promises to bring more innovative solutions to meet the unique needs of African crypto enthusiasts.
