Makini School’s Parent Company Buys Flipper International School
News reaching our desk indicates that Makini School’s parent company, ADVTECH, has successfully acquired Flipper International School in Ethiopia.
The company announced on Tuesday, November 26, that it had finalized a Ksh971.3 million ($7.5 million) agreement to take 100% ownership of the prestigious institution.
In a statement sent to the newsroom, ADVTECH outlined that this acquisition will add five schools and approximately 3,000 students to its international portfolio. This move reinforces ADVTECH’s position as a leading provider of private education across Africa.
Marketcap has also learned that the acquisition aligns with ADVTECH’s Schools Division strategy, focusing on expanding its presence in East Africa to meet the rising demand for quality private education.
The group has been actively pursuing growth in the region, having acquired the Makini Group of Schools and established Crawford International School in Kenya in 2018.
ADVTECH’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Geoff Whyte, shared his enthusiasm about the acquisition, assuring stakeholders that the core values of Flipper International School would remain intact.
“We are delighted to welcome Flipper International Schools to the ADVTECH Group and remain dedicated to its founding principles. Furthermore, the acquisition positions us well to grow our presence in the Ethiopian market and expand our scale across the continent,” Whyte said in the statement.
